Qualifications
'A business improvement project is more effective if it includes training and assessment. Achieving a recognised qualification is a bonus for the project team.'
An appropriate qualification for those involved in supply-chain planning, is the 'Certificate in Operations Management from the Institute of Operations Management. This is a UK Level 3 qualification that may be delivered in the workplace - typically ten workshops, plus self-study, during an eight to ten-week period.
Business Improvement Techniques qualification (B-IT), from EMTA Awards Ltd, is available as an NVQ and a VRQ.
At Level 2, mandatory modules include:
• Effective Team Working
• Applying Workplace Organisation (5S)
• Applying Continuous Improvement (Kaizen)
Optional units include:
• Creating Visual Management Systems
• Applying Set-up Reduction Techniques (SMED)
• Applying Problem Solving Techniques.
